The
Process
Vision.
Let's begin
with the end in mind.
What are you trying to accomplish? Who is your
audience? Do you have content prepared? Do you
have a vision of your site, color or font
preferences? Have you seen a site that you wish
was your own? Do you like, or despise,
animation?
After
we've had a preliminary discussion about your
project, I'll provide a proposal outlining how I
will turn your vision into reality. Details,
including price, terms and target dates will be
included.
Adjust
and correct.
When
you have indicated your acceptance I will begin by
mocking-up page layouts, incorporating your
preferences regarding layout, color, and font
types. These will be viewable on the Internet
housed on Elting Web Design's server. Expect to
receive frequent emails---"How do you like
this?"---until we're both happy with the
look and feel of the template. I expect you to be
forthright about your likes and dislikes. I may also make suggestions for
stock photography that will add punch to your
message and add appeal to your site.
Meanwhile,
you should be preparing your content and emailing
it to me, as well as gathering your photographs
and mailing them for scanning and preparation. I
will also ask for your input regarding a
description and keywords for the site. These
elements, together with your content, are key to
proper listing by the search engines.
Final
focus.
Once
the site is completed and approved, I will upload
it to your domain's server and submit the URL to
search engines. You should begin to publicize your
site in every communication, including your
letterhead, email signatures, advertisements, even
your voice mail message and "on hold"
message. Periodically
I will ask you if we need to update your content
or modify your keywords or description.
Clearly,
I'm
excited about creating websites. My goal is to
make this an exciting, even fun, time for you,
too, and provide a professional Internet presence you will
claim with pride.
